Scope of works:
In 2005, The London Borough of Ealing met with Insight to discuss the creation of a specialised children’s services centre. We were originally requested to respond to a very detailed tender document and two years on we were appointed to carry out the fit-out work at Carmelita House.
Substantial air conditioning works were specified to service the cellular space; vinyl sheet flooring covered all communal walkways; new stud partitions with fire rated glass panels housed solid core veneered doors; DDA compliant disabled toilet facilities were created and a new wheelchair accessible reception desk was installed.
The use of bright colours on the floor, walls and chair fabrics became an important aspect of the project, aimed at appealing to young patients. A crèche was formed in the main reception area enclosed by a yellow guard rail and the floor covered by an orange and yellow spot carpet. Each clinic and therapy room benefitted from an integrated cleansing unit housed within a lockable storage wall unit.
All works were completed to programme and to the stringent budget set-out at tender stage.
